people want to make black americans feel like they aint shit and all they have is slavery. the fact that they’ve endured and survived and thrived in a country that is STILL trying to smother the vibrancy out of them is testament and a place where culture sprouts from. because they were stolen from their original homes, because they have been immersed in other cultures and have endured erasure of their own new cultures have sprouted. i’m not saying it’s good and i’m not saying everything that has happened and still happens is ok because of this, i’m saying you have a culture. and the fucked up world makes you feel like it is inadequate set against the backdrop of everyone else.
